Thank you for purchasing the Comptech Stainless Steel Exhaust system for the Acura NSX (1991-2006). All components have been designed and manufactured utilizing the latest in technology and materials. Please take a moment to read this instruction manual and warranty information page thoroughly before starting any work. Always work in a clean environment and use the appropriate safety equipment and tools to avoid any potential damage or injuries. Comptech recommends the use of a Genuine Acura Service Manual to supplement these instructions. All Comptech products are intended to be installed by a professional installer. Many stock parts are reused during installation. Do not damage or discard any pieces during disassembly or installation.
This exhaust does not come with any gaskets, except the two gaskets associated with the adapter pipes for 97 and later cars. The existing gaskets may be in reusable condition, but always inspect and replace any defective gaskets before assembly to insure a leak free installation. New gaskets can be ordered from Comptech or any Acura dealer. We recommend using the factory service manual to supplement these installation tips. This manual will provide more detailed information on removal, installation, and/or torque specifications of any parts not covered here. Remember to always use jackstands to support the vehicle when a car lift is not available. Always work in a clean environment and use the appropriate safety equipment to avoid any potential damage or injuries.
• Remove Stock Exhaust System: disconnect the stock exhaust system from the catalytic converters by removing the connecting hardware. Use a spray lubricant to loosen up the rubber hangers that support the exhaust. Be careful not to damage the rubber hangers during removal. After one side is down, the other side will be easier to get to and disconnect the remaining hangers. The exhaust can now be removed and set out of the way.
• Install Rubber Hangers on Comptech System: Apply some more lubricant on the rubber hangers and slide all the hangers onto the mounting points on the Comptech Exhaust System in the same locations and orientation as the stock muffler. Note: If the rubber hangers have plastic sleeves inserted into one side of the hanger, make sure that side is installed on the exhaust.
• Install Adapter Hardware (95-06 NSX): Use the stock exhaust to determine the location of the adapter elbows and loosely (do not tighten) attach the elbows with the included hardware and crush gaskets to the Comptech Exhaust System. Use a small amount of silicone to hold the crush gaskets in place during installation and also apply some anti-seize to all fasteners to ease any future removal of exhaust components.
