Service at the indicated distance or time, whichever comes first. Use this schedule if the vehicle is driven MAINLY in Canada or in any of the following conditions; if only OCCASIONALLY driven in these conditions, use the Normal Conditions schedule.
Severe Driving Conditions
- Less than 5 miles (8 km) per trip or, in freezing temperatures, less than 10 miles (16 km) per trip
- In extremely; hot weather (over 90°F/32°C)
- Extensive idling or long periods of stop-and-go driving
- Trailer towing
- On muddy, dusty, or de-iced roads
- Driving in mountainous conditions
According to state and federal regulations, failure to do the maintenance items marked with asterisk (*) will not void customer’s emissions warranties. However, Honda recommends that all maintenance services be done at the recommended interval to ensure long-term reliability.
- Replace spark plugs for ‘98-’99 models. Use NGK (ZFR5F-11) or DENSO (KJ16CR-L11).Gap: 1.0-1.1 mm (0.039-0.043 in.).

- Replace engine oil and filter. – Capacity with filter change: 4.3
- Inspect front and rear brakes, every 6 months if vehicle is driven less than 7,500 mile per year.
- Check pads and discs for wear (thickness), damage, and cracks.
- Check calipers for damage, leaks, and tightness of mount bolts.
- Rotate tires, if the vehicle has been driven the distance listed. Follow the pattern shown in the Owner’s Manual. (Check tire inflation and condition.)
- Inspect tie rod ends, steering gearbox, and boots.
- Check rack grease and steering linkage.
- Check boots for damage and leaking grease.
