Installation Instructions for Honda Element: 1a. Remove the plastic fasteners that attach the plastic shroud that covers the gap between the grille and the frame. This is done using the flat blade screwdriver byu prying the center plug out of the base and then removing the base. If they by chance break you can replace them @ you local home improvement warehouse for mere change.
1b. This is a picture showing the plastic shroud being removed. The light grey trim and the black mesh will come off next as an assembly. There are some Phillips head screws from the back. You will need the stubby or a right angle driver to remove the two that are at the top. Note: they are located at the edges. It can then be removed by pulling it forward to release it from the gibs along the lower edge.
2. Separate the light gray trim from the black honeycomb like mesh. This is done by removing the numerous screws on the back side of the grille (can only be done off of the vehicle). Then using a hack saw blade (you can use just the blade or a Dremel but be careful) cut the mounting for the Honda emblem (H) out. It will look like this when done. Remove the “H” from the mount if you want to epoxy it back on later.
3. Place the GrilleGuy grille on the mesh grille. If any of the gibs (risers that mate the trim to the mesh piece) are obstructed you will need to trim the grille to clear the obstruction. Place the grey trim on and secure using the screws you removed in step two.
4a. If installing the lower grille skip down before completing step 4b.
4b. Reattach the grille into the opening and then reattach the shroud.
4c. If desired, use a 5 minute epoxy to attach the “H” to the front. Or get inventive and put the Element logo or a V6 emblem.
