The BD X-Tuner Power Programmer is for 2003-2005 Dodge Ram trucks equipped with a 5.9L Common Rail Cummins turbo diesel engine. The X-Tuner is a very simple instrument to operate. All procedures take place in the comfort of your cab with the downloader hooked up to the OBD II (On Board Diagnostics) port. Operating this downloader does not require any mechanical background.

Once you have downloaded a power program into your vehicle, always remember to keep the downloader in the vehicle. You may wish to change the power program or check and erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s), or use the PTO function on the road. A good place to keep it would be the glove compartment of your vehicle.

The power program must always be removed before taking the vehicle in for any kind of service, as it may interfere with diagnostic tools used by your dealer. Never use the “Extreme” horsepower setting while towing.

Installation
Make sure that your vehicle is in the key off/engine off position before you plug in the X-Tuner.
Connect the communications cable that came with the downloader into the top of the X-Tuner and the other end into the OBD II port (see diagram to the right). The OBD II port is the diagnostic port located underneath the dash on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The downloader will boot up and show a logo of BD Power. At that point it will bring up a screen asking you to put your key to the RUN position. Turn your ignition key forward to the run position, with the engine off (KOEO).
Press “Y” to continue to the main screen.
