HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM .
2. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to IDENTIFICATION CODES
3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. WARNING: Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Item 3: Brake Line-To-HCU Fittings Removal Note
1. Brake lines must be reinstalled in the same location as removed.
Item 6: HCU Removal Note
1. Remove the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. For additional information, refer to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE .
