Remove the front bumper cover
A. Begin by removing the dust covers that are located underneath the vehicle. Use the 10mm socket to remove the OEM bolts and then the 7mm Nut driver to removed all the OEM screws along the sub-front portion of the bumper.
B. Locate and remove all other fasteners that attach the OEM bumper cover to the vehicle. Once you’ve removed the fasteners, slowly remove the bumper cover. Note that some vehicles may have the foam bumper protector inside, where some may have the plastic protector. The Pro-gard Push Bumper was designed for the plastic protector.
C. In applications where the protector is plastic, be aware that the plastic protector will hang on clips inside the OEM bumper cover and will have to be removed, modified, and installed over to the metal bumper. Remove the plastic protector from the inside of the bumper cover and set aside. With a tape measure, mark a centerline on the top surface of the metal bumper for reference. This will be useful in the next steps.
D. Cut 4 notches in the lip of the plastic protector to make clearance for the bumper bracket studs. See the following photos as a guide when making the notches. Then re-install the protector centering it over the metal bumper.
Installing the push bumper
A. Install the push bumper frame, from below, behind the OEM bumper as shown in the following photo. Note that the frame has four welded blocks with holes located on the front of the frame. These will act as locators to position the push bumper vertically.
B. Simply attach the push bumper frame onto the back of the OEM bumper using the two bumper clamps, from the front, over the bumper protector with the 3/8- 16 lock nuts and flat washers. See the following photos.
C. With the push bumper frame installed, re-install the OEM bumper cover. See the following photos.
D. Only loosely tighten all bolts. This will aid in alignment to the front-end assembly.
E. Mount the bottom bumper mounts on both sides using the 1/2-13×1-1/2 bolts, washers and nuts. Next insert the top bumper supports through the grille and attach to the top of push bumper frame using the 5/16-18 bolts, washers and nuts. Now mount the Pro-gard push bumper front-end assembly using the 1/2-13×1 bolts, washers and nuts supplied with the front section as shown.
F. Insert the top bumper supports through the grille and under the top shelf of the front-end assembly. Attach to the push bumper frame using the 5/16-18×1 bolts, nuts and washers and to the top shelf using the ―-13×1 bolts and lock washers.
