Installation Procedure
Care must be taken while installing this bumper accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to insure a quality installation.
These guidelines can be found in the “Accessory Installation Practices” document.
Installation Preparation
1. Verify that the part is for the correct vehicle model and that it fits the vehicle properly.
2. During installation, the vehicle, the part, and the tape MUST be between 60° and 110° F for proper adhesion. Failure to maintain proper installation procedure may result in the part not functioning correctly.
3. Inspect the vehicle for damage prior to installing the Bumper Protector.
4. Paint: Prepare part surfaces per Toyota paint standards.
i. Do not use lacquer thinner or enamel reducer as a degreaser.
Install Bumper Protector
1. Make sure that all installation surfaces are free of dirt and/or grease. (Fig. B1)
i. Use a clean, lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol-based cleaner.
2. Using a nylon tool, remove the four factory plastic fasteners in the bumper threshold. Retain these fasteners for later use. (Fig. B2)
3. Peel the red plastic liner from the tape strips located on the inside of the Bumper Protector.
4. Hold the part at an angle to prevent tape from prematurely sticking, and align the part on the bumper. Holes in the Bumper Protector should line up with holes in the bumper threshold. (Fig. B4)
5. Confirm placement of the Bumper Protector. Press the part into place starting at the left side, pushing downward and forward. Continue to press downward and forward while working your way to the right. Apply firm pressure to the taped areas for proper bond. (Fig. B5)
i. The tape reaches maximum adhesive bond after 24 hours of contact.
6. Insert the four plastic fasteners removed in Fig. 2 through the holes in the Bumper Protector and into the holes in the bumper threshold. Press into place. (Fig. B6)
