I go out of my way to ensure that your precision crafted key has been machined to the highest tolerances. Every key I make is tested to ensure that it can be inserted into the door and ignition locks of our test vehicle. However each key is not without some slight variation as is true for the door and ignition locks.
Test procedure:
1. Ensure that the switchblade mechanism functions by pressing the chrome button at the top of the remote. The key blank should rotate or flip out of the remote housing. Pressing and holding the chrome button while rotating the key blank down re-inserts it back into the remote. The mechanism should work smoothly.
2. Ensure that the remote buttons function properly. Press each of the remote buttons separately. The small red LED between the lock and unlock buttons should blink once when either the lock, unlock or trunk buttons is depressed. The trunk button must be held for a few seconds for the LED to blink. The LED will not blink when the “Panic” button is depressed. Note: you won’t be able to test whether the remote locks or unlocks your car until it has been programmed per the supplied instructions.
3. Ensure that the key can be inserted into the door lock and that the key goes all the way into the lock as is depicted in the following image. Remove and rotate the key 180 degrees to the orientation shown and ensure that the key goes in all the way as well. Note: You may need to insert and remove the key a few times to achieve smooth operation.
In the event that the key does not go into the lock all the way or that you can not insert the key at all into either the door or the ignition… Stop! Contact us… We want to help.
4. Ensure that the key can be inserted into the ignition and that the key goes in all the way into the lock as depicted in the following image. Remove and rotate the key 180 degrees to the orientation shown and ensure that the key goes in all the way as well.
