The AEM Cold Air System is the result of extensive development on a wide variety of cars. Each system is engineered for the particular application. The AEM Cold Air System differs from all others in several ways. We take the inlet air from outside of the engine compartment where the inlet air is considerably cooler than the hot underhood air. The cooler inlet air temperature translates to more power during the combustion process because cool air is denser than warm air. AEM has conducted extensive inlet air temperature studies and we have seen temperature reductions of up to 50 degrees by pulling air from outside of the engine compartment. The air mass flow to the engine is increased because of the increased airflow and reduced inlet temperature, which translates to more power. The AEM Cold Air Systems are 50 states Street Legal (some models and years still pending) and come with complete instructions for ease of installation.

Machining Instructions:
NOTE: Stand position is determined upon valve length and rocker pivot length. Please refer to the chart below to determine the proper machining dimensions.
1) MEASURE VALVE TIP TO SPRING SEAT DIMENSION (DIM A) AND REFER TO “Z” COORDINATE (DIM B) ON CHART. MILL OEM ROCKER PEDISTALS DOWN FLUSH WITH THE TOP OF THE HEAD BOLT BOSS BETWEEN #1 & 3 INTAKE VALVE. THIS IS YOUR .000” Z HEIGHT. MILL REMAINDER OF ROCKER PEDISTAL TO COORDINATES LISTED UNDER DIM B.
2) SET THE “X” .000” TO THE CENTERLINE OF #3 & 5 EXHAUST VALVES. SET THE “Y” .000” TO THE CENTER OF THE FACTORY 3/8 SHAFT MOUNTING BOLTS ALREADY MACHINED IN THE HEAD.
3) DRILL AND TAP 9/16-12 X .750” DEEP AT “X” AND “Y” COORDINATES LISTED FOR VALVE LENGTH AND ROCKER BODY BEING USED. INSTALL SUPPLIED INSERTS INTO HEAD.
4) ATTACH ROCKER STAND USING SUPPLIED BOLTS AND TORQUE TO 45 FT/LBS.

The AEM Short Ram Air Intake System is the result of extensive development on a wide variety of cars. It is the most advanced short pipe air intake system on the market. Each system is specifically engineered for its particular application. All AEM Short Ram Air Intake Systems deliver maximum performance gains through lightweight, all-aluminum, mandrel-bent tubing that is tuned in both length and diameter. The aluminum will not crack in extended use like plastic. The tube length and diameter are matched for each specific engine to give power over a broad RPM range.

Valve Body Inspection
1. If a line-to-lube hole has been drilled in the PR valve circuit, it should be plugged to reduce converter drainback.
2. Inspect the TV checkball separator plate seat. Leakage here may produce stacked shifts and/or no kickdown.

Disassembly Instructions
1. Remove the detent assembly & spring retainer bracket, see Figure 1.
2. Remove the original pressure regulator spring and valve.
3. Remove the end plate on the opposite side of the bore and remove the line/TVpressure plug and sleeve assembly and the spring.
4. Keep the OEM line/TV pressure plug spring and the end plate. Discard all other OEM components.
5. Clean the bore thoroughly in a solvent tank.
