Please follow these installation instructions carefully. The K&N Drycharger included in this kit must be installed on the K&N air filter when used with a K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake System. The K&N Typhoon Intake System is a performance product that can be used safely during mild weather conditions. During hard and inclement weather conditions, you must convert your Cold Air Intake System into a short ram configuration, or return your vehicle to the stock OEM airbox and intake tract configuration. Thanks again for purchasing your new 409 stainless steel Pypes Performance Exhaust Ford Mustang off-road or street legal x-pipe. Please be sure to confirm all the components in the kit were received in your shipment before beginning installation. All kits will include your new x-pipe with 02 bungs, installation hardware, and header sleeves (if required). If you purchased a street legal version, you should have also received a CVM10K or CVM11K cat kit. If you purchased XFM16, you received (1) small sleeve for the drivers side leg. If you purchased XFM19, both mounting points at the headers require the (2) small sleeves supplied. If you find any component missing, please contact our office at 800-421-3890 for replacement.

Installation Step:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable! Push the green tab on the crankcase breather tube, and disconnect it from the air intake tube. Loosen one hose clamp on each end of the air intake tube and remove it from the vehicle.
2. Remove the four bolts that hold the throttlebody to the intake manifold.
3. Install the ECONOAID Plate against the manifold with the logo facing the throttlebody. Next install the supplied gasket between the ECONOAID Plate and the throttlebody.

INSTALLATION
Note: This kit is designed to be used on 74-78 Mustang II and 73-80 Pinto/Bobcat spindles. It will also fit most dropped spindles and tubular “A” arm combinations. Check the fit before painting or plating any parts.
Painted, plated or modified pants are not accepted for return.
1. Starting with a clean spindle, mount the appropriate bracket {there is a right and left hand bracket) to the spindle using the bolts supplied. Note: brackets stamped R are right-passenger side and L are left-drivers side.

We hope you are satisfied with the look and performance. You may use any polish or wax on the pipe as it’s painted with the same high quality paint as your car. Please note, with such a large pipe the fit is tight. Take your time and it will be a smooth install. Please note, it has come to our attention that Ford has 4 different motor mounts putting the engine in 4 slightly different positions. This can cause this intake to be very tight to the oil fill cap on a small percentage of models and “may” require slight modification of the cap with a Dremel or grinder to clear this JLT intake.

The Instrument Cluster contains sensitive electronic components. Great care should be taken when working around or handling electronic components. Avoid touching components on a circuit board directly. Static shock could damage these components. Avoid working in areas that can create excessive static shock such as carpeted rooms.
1. First disconnect the Negative (-) Battery Terminal and apply the Emergency Brake.

REMOVAL OF OLD THROTTLE BODY
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. The air inlet tube connecting the air cleaner to the throttle body must be removed. Loosen both of the clamps on the air inlet tube and carefully remove it from the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the throttle position sensor and the idle speed control solenoid connectors from the throttle body. Also disconnect the EGR position sensor connector from the EGR valve.
4. Disconnect the EGR vacuum line from the EGR valve. Disconnect the throttle linkage. Loosen the two hose clamps on the throttle body coolant hoses on the EGR spacer. Remove the hoses being aware that some coolant may drain from the hoses.
5. Remove the four nuts that hold the throttle body to the manifold. Slide the stock throttle body and EGR spacer off of the four studs.
