The GMRC-03 is designed to be used in Cadillac’s that do not have Onstar or amplified systems. It will retain the warning chimes that are lost when the factory radio is removed. The GMRC-03 will also provide a 12 volt switched accessory wire for proper radio operation. *Note: The GMRC-03 can be used in Cadillac’s that come with a factory amplifier; however the factory amplifier must be bypassed and the speaker wires on the GMRC-03 must not be used. Running new wires to the speakers is recommended. If the Cadillac also has Onstar, that feature will be lost.
WIRING UP THE GMRC-03
* Important: Before beginning any of the following, disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental short circuit.
**Note: The ignition power source of the Cadillac keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened.
This is called the R.A.P. (retained accessory power). The GMRC-03 is designed to retain this feature.
CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE ON THE 10 PIN HARNESS:
1. Connect the yellow wire to the to the radio’s 12 volt battery or memory wire.
2. Connect the red wire to the radio’s 12 volt accessory or switched wire.
3. Connect the black wire to the radio’s ground wire.
