Audi/VW VKM 31034 Technical Bulletin

When servicing the accessory drive system, it is very important to change the tensioner and the drive belt. With SKF you get a belt that is the same length as the OE (the belt is sold separately), which reduces the risk of breakage further down the road. The tensioner (VKM 31034) contains two parts – a plastic idler and a spring mounted together.
VKM 31034 System layout
The layout diagram above shows that all of the components (ALT, PS and AC) are driven by the auxiliary belts. That’s why we strongly recommended fitting the exact OE belt length when servicing the auxiliary drive system!

While simple in principle, the S-Flo for the 2.7l twin turbo produces quite tangible increases in engine power and smoothness. The improvements are from a combination of air filter design (the unique venturi shaped base of the ITG filter) and the precise mandrel bent transition tube. Our scan tool measurements recorded an average increase of 25 grams-per-second of air through the mass air flow sensor (MAF), with a dramatically smoother flow curve. We believe you will be quite pleased with the S-Flo. Thank you for your purchase!

AUDI ECU for A3, A4, TT (1800 cc)

AIM has developed special applications for many of the most common ECUs: by special applications we mean user-friendly systems which allow to easily connect your ECU to our high tech data loggers: user needs only to install harness between the logger and the ECU. Once connected, the logger displays (and/or records, depending on the logger and on the ECU data stream) values like RPM, engine load, throttle position (TPS), air and water temperatures, battery voltage, speed, gear, lambda value (air/fuel ratio) analog channels…
All AIM loggers include – free of charge – Race Studio 2 software, a powerful tool to configure the system and analyze recorded data on your PC.

For preparation of the vehicle, you may either place the car on ramps or you may place it on jack-stands and remove the front wheels. Be sure that you order the correct alternator with the correct amperage. You may want to wait to order your new alternator until you see what the old one looks like. Mine was 120A. Be sure to have your faulty alternator tested to be sure that this is the part that is failing. You may want to be sure that when you order a new alternator that you get one with the pulley already installed. I tried to buy an AutoLite from the auto parts store and the pulley from the old alternator would not work on the AutoLite. I think this is the same for some Bosch as well. I think the pulley configuration varies. You may want to also replace the V belt since you’ll have it off for this repair anyway. You may also want to replace your power steering fluid after you’re done with the repair since you should be doing this periodically anyway.
