These tools are designed to remove and install front wheel drive front wheel bearings. It is not necessary to remove the knuckle assembly from the vehicle, and, as a result, front wheel alignment is not altered.
Vehicle Setup
1. Raise the vehicle until all weight is off the front wheels, and they hang freely.
2. Remove the following components: • front tires • axle nut • outer tie rod nut and tie rod • disc brake caliper - use a wire (or OTC No. 7661 caliper hanger set) to hold caliper out of the way and prevent damage to brake hose • brake rotor • loosen the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle assembly

There are three alternatives when thinking of axles:
1) ‘English axle’ Standard production axle on all Escorts including RS products. Reliable but prone to bending in very rough events. Produced as homologated axle for RS2000 in Gp 1. Wheel arch extensions not necessary, but also excellent choice for cheap Gp II car.
The Capri derived Atlas axle is no longer available as a new part. Gp 4 axles with their bracketry for Gp 4 suspension can be made up or are available from Rallye Sport Dealers.

For the first time, Ford is using a front-wheel drive in a middle range vehicle. For this reason, the well-proven MTX 75 transmission from the Fiesta/Escort has been modified and adapted to the requirements of the Ford Mondeo. At the same time, a 4×4 version is also offered, in which the MTX 75 transmission is extended, as on the Escort 4×4, by a transfer box. The transfer box in the Ford Mondeo is a new development and effectively transfers the higher torque to the front axle. This brochure describes all new features and modifications implemented on the MTX 75 transmission compared to the MTX 75 transmission of the Escort ‘91 as well as on the MTX 75 4×4 drive concept and vehicle compared to the Ford Mondeo with front wheel drive.

SIERRA 2.3 DOHC 8v HYBRID

The ‘I4′ DOHC engine first introduced in the Ford Sierra and Granada models of late 1989 was only available in the Sierra in 2.0-litre 8-valve form. While power output improvements can be made to the stock 2.0 8v engine, as documented in a separate article entitled ‘DOHC tuning’ and available from http://www.crustworld.co.uk/sierra/dohctuning.pdf, the engine output is ultimately limited by the availability and cost-effectiveness of off-the-shelf tuning parts.

Ford Sierra 4×4 Supplement Manual

The Ford supplied Sierra 4×4 Supplementary Workshop Manual is a “must have” for any owner of one of these cars. The biggest problem can be actually finding one to purchase. I got lucky and managed to get mine direct from a Ford dealer, brand new for Ł8, who was having a clearout. They do appear regularly at autojumbles and it is just a case of keep looking. The manual only covers those items unique to the 4×4 Sierra’s and (more…)

Various 1997-2008 vehicles equipped with either 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive and equipped with control trac may exhibit a shudder on acceleration/deceleration, binding in slow speed turns or noise from the front driveline and/or transfer case. The shudder/binding will occur with the vehicle being operated in the awd/auto 4×4 mode. The shudder/binding may be due to incorrect tire circumference or improper tire inflation pressures.
