This conversion is not as easy as some people make out but can still be done by the back yard mechanic with some basic skills. You will need: Type 9 gearbox from a Sierra 1600 (about 1988-92) Bellhousing to suit the Pinto 2000 engine 20mm thick spacers to go in the cross member mounts (optional) Clutch, flywheel, pedal box, clutch cable, etc.
The cross member off the automatic transmission fits the Type 9 but needs to be lowered 20 mm otherwise the g/box will hit the underside of the transmission tunnel.

Ford has marked the 45th anniversary of the Mustang with a major redesign not only of the bodylines but also the interior, particularly of the dashboard. The steering, suspension and V8 engine have also been reviewed. The Mustang comes in coupe and convertible models, in a base version with a V6 engine or a GT powered by a V8.
Interior and trunk
Front seat access is relatively easy for a sport coupe. Its very comfortable seats have good side support, fine for anything short of racing the car on a track. The driving position is very good and the driver’s seat is equipped with lumbar adjustment. Legroom is generous, but headroom is a bit tight for tall people.

Installation: 2002 Taurus
This siren will be mounted onto the vehicle horn’s mounting plate near the drivers side front tire. The vehicle horn’s mounting holes will be used to mount the SA314 siren speaker.
WARNING! Loud siren noise can cause hearing loss. Minimize exposure. Close windows when using.
1. Since the siren will be mounted upside down, its drain hole is now on top. This requires another drain hole to be drilled into the siren before mounting (See “Drilling the drain hole”).
2. Mount siren onto the bracket using the supplied mounting hardware. Install a spacer nut onto each of the bracket’s Pem Studs (Fig. 2).
3. Remove the large (full vehicle width) plastic splash guard mounted to the front, underside of the vehicle (Fig. 1). This allows access to the vehicle horn.

Removal
1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Remove the hoses.
- Loosen the clamps.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
2. Remove the pin-type retainers and the accelerator cable splash shield.
3. Disconnect the throttle cable and the cruise control cable.
4. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle Air Control (IAC)
valve electrical connectors.
5. Disconnect the harness from the throttle body stud.

Disassembly
1. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, notes and instructions in the steering column removal and installation procedure.
Remove the steering column. For additional information, refer to Steering Column in this section.
2. Remove the clockspring. For additional information, refer to Section 501-20B.
3. Remove the multifunction switch.
4. Unclip the steering column opening gearshift lever seal from the steering column.

Note: You must be able to gain access underneath the vehicle in order to remove and replace sections of the intake system. Always ensure the vehicle is securely raised before working underneath.
Step 1: Remove Factory Intakes & Air Box Remove engine cover.
Using basic tools, disconnect all hoses and electrical connectors attached to the factory intake tubes. Disconnect and remove intakes and remove factory air box & air filter assembly. On the rear, the factory “S” boot connecting to the rear turbo remains.
Optional Step: Modifying Your Factory Air Box Scoop
From the factory, the air box features a “scoop” at the front of the vehicle to direct outside air in. You can make a cut to create a scoop that serves this same function with the new air intake:

STEP 1: The Ford radio is snapped into the vehicles dash. With the proper tool, known as Ford radio removal keys, the Ford radio can be pulled forward out of the dash. A clothes hanger can be used instead of actual Ford radio removal keys. Cut the clothes hanger and bend 2 pieces in the shape as shown in the photos above. For more information on how to remove the radio, see the diagram below.
STEP 2: Pull the radio from the dash. Unplug the antenna cable from the rear of the radio. Unplug the 2 wire harness connectors from the rear of the radio.

We recommend that the factory shop manual and any special tools needed to service your vehicle be on hand during the installation. Installation of this kit without proper knowledge of the factory recommended procedures may affect the performance of these components and the safety of the vehicle. You AC should be cooling more effectively than that on MaxAC − I’d take it back and get the pressure checked to ensure you don’t have a leak. Something is funny about your problem though as MaxAC should work even with a bad blend door. MaxAC opens the recirculating air damper, shuts off the flow to the heater core and cranks the AC so you should get full cooling. If you look on this picture below you will see how it all is setup − the blend door is in the middle and controls air flow around the heater core after the AC evaporator. If the heater core is off then you should still get full cooling even if the blend door is wonky.

As a forewarning, this design has only been tested on a 2nd Gen. Ford Explorer XLT. Ok, now a little bit of background. I’m a 20-yr-old Russian translator for the military. My dad is a contractor, but I grew up with my mom. I spent my summers with dad and learned a little bit about woodworking, but it was mainly framing. I’m really good with math, but this box really only required some basic geometry (Pythagorean and SOHCAHTOA).
