GROM AUX Adapter Instructions

The GROM AUX adapter – an integration between an MP3 player and a factory installed car stereo. Equipped with the specific vehicle harness and standard 3.5mm jack the GROM-AUX interface will allow you to connect your MP3/DVD/XM player or iPod / iPhone to the car stereo system easily.

Proper mounting location
Securely install the interface in a location that is free from heat, humidity, moving parts, or direct sunlight. Beware of hot airflow from your vehicle’s climate control system. We recommend securing the interface to a suitable location, free of sharp metal edges, using double-sided tape, Velcro, or wire ties.

After installation, the ONSTAR LOCKPICK will allow your aftermarket Bluetooth Handsfree kit to interface directly with your vehicle’s ONSTAR system. When you are making or receiving a call, your ONSTAR will be activated and the audio can be heard through your factory sound system. The ONSTAR LOCKPICK contains a simple “T” harness for connection to your radio. This “T” harness also has connections for your Handsfree kit to supply power for it, and connect to its radio mute function. A separate harness allows connections to the line level audio output of your Handsfree kit so you will not have to use any of the extra speakers which may have come with your kit. You can listen to your conversations just as you would an ONSTAR message and the sound will play through your factory sound system.

In most cases, a Disc Read Error is caused by the following:
• Disc was installed in the CD slot or other slot that is not for the map disc (see “Loading the Map Disc” below)
• Disc was installed upside-down (disc needs to properly be installed with the label side facing up)
• Disc may be scratched, dirty or wet (see nav manual on how to clean disc)
• Nav System or air temperature in vehicle may be excessively hot (allow vehicle to cool down)
• Rough road conditions may be causing the disc to read improperly while the vehicle is in motion (problem should go away on smoother roads)

3.0 GM Class 2 Radio, XM Mode
The BAND button will select/deselect the iWire interface. If both a Terk XM Direct tuner and iPod are attached, the devices will be selected alternately. A typical sequence with both attached will be FM1-FM2-AM-iPod-iPod-FM1-FM2-AM-XM1-XM2 etc. When playing an iPod, SEEK UP and SEEK DOWN will track up or track down within a playlist. At the end of the playlist, the track will wrap around to the beginning. When playing XM, the next channel (up or down) will be selected.

Installation:
The CHYX plugs into the back of the factory radio.
1. Remove factory radio. Remove factory female 10 pin Satellite cable, if available. Plug the CHYX’s 10 pin SAT plug into the radio. Plug the factory Satellite cable that was just removed into into the CHYX’s 10 pin connector.
2. Insert the CHYX’s 22 pin main power Plug (T-Harness) in between the factory radio and factory harness.
3. Connect external audio devices(s) into Aux 1 and/or Aux 2 inputs using the RCA jacks on the CHYX.
4. If the vehicle has both factory Satellite and VES, you must disconnect either one directly at the device. If the vehicle has factory single disc radio, the Satellite receiver must be disconnected directly at the device . Refer to vehicle’s repair manual for location and removal of the Satellite receiver or VES plug.

Using Audi-specific radio removal keys, remove the radio from the dash by pulling toward you after the four locks have been disengaged. The radio fits very tightly into the opening even when the locks are released. Disconnect all plugs from the back of the factory radio, remove and set aside. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR RADIO IS NOT CODED OR THAT YOU HAVE THE CODE BEFORE
