Development of vehicles that could operate on alternative fuels began in earnest as a response to the oil shocks of the 1970s. Of the various choices, methanol appeared to be the best candida~ for long-term, widespread replacement of petroleum-based fuels. Initial support by the government was based on the desire for energy security, but the potential for improvement in air quality became an important driver as well. Experimental fleets of dedicated methanol vehicles did (more…)
It has always been a challenge for engine designers to make, besides cylinder heads and pistons, the entire cylinder block from aluminium without additional cylinder liners or surface reinforcements. Besides a favourable running behaviour due to weight reduction, it is especially the heat balance which can be controlled much more easily because the thermal (more…)

This paper investigates detection of an air leak fault in the intake manifold subsystem of an automotive engine during transient operation. Previously, it was shown that integrating the local approach with an auto-associative neural network model of the engine, significantly increased the sensitivity of fault detection. However, the drawback then is that the (more…)

RAM Street Dual disc systems are specifically engineered for today’s late model performance cars and engine swaps into earlier vehicles. The purpose of these clutches is to provide smooth driveability for high power levels that was previously not available using aggressive friction material single disc clutches. Friction material is not the only consideration for good driveability. We also need to maintain enough overall weight in the clutch assembly so that the clutch can be driven at (more…)
Header Guidelines
1. When ordering headers, be sure to check vehicle make, model, year of manufacture and engine size. Check all footnotes in this Application Guide. This will ensure you are recommending the correct product.
2. Open the header box and show the customer that all parts are included (gaskets, reducers and bolts). This will end a majority of returns for lost parts. Make sure the customer follows the manufacturer’s instructions when installing.
