The history of airbags has been a long and eventful evolution. With the first patent for an airbag restraint system dating back to 1953, it was not until the late 60’s that manufacturer’s begun to spend more time on research and development of this revolutionary restraint system. In 1970, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) mandated that all (more…)

The design and use of these roller tappets requires an adequate supply of oil for proper lubrication and cooling. Many of the newer racing oil pans reduce windage and eliminate splash oiling. Utilizing oil restrictors can reduce important oil flow to the tappets and will cause needle bearing failure, axle failure, and severe tappet body damage. Be sure that your oiling system provides adequate oiling to cool and lubricate your roller tappets and the balance of your valve train components.

This bracket was fabricated by a professional weldor for an installation of a Model MW150 welder on his service truck. The bracket is a variation of the “typical” bracket depicted on the previous page in which a tensioning bracket is included as part of the bracket itself. The A300 mounting bracket was used, but it was welded in place rather than bolted to the base bracketing. The installer was experienced and very careful and, in this case, the A300 bracket was welded into place perfectly. Likewise, the vertical support for the base bracketing was welded in place.

Edelbrock Sure-Seat valve springs are made of high quality wire and are wound to close specifications for use with our Performer-Plus camshafts. These quality controlled springs are part of Edelbrock’s concept of a dyno-tested parts combination. In most cases Sure Seat valve springs have inner dampeners. Edelbrock springs are carefully inspected for potential flaws and can be depended on for performance and durability.

Pre-installation Considerations
Since the valve train in a typical overhead valve engine contains numerous components which may or may not be matched, care must be taken to avoid potential issues which may affect the overall performance of the lifters and the engine. These considerations can be best described in two categories: Mechanical Interference and Valve Train Geometry.
