Detailed Instructions
1 Check off all items against Snorkel Kit List.
2 Remove guard liner, front rubber and windscreen washer reservoir.
3 Tape Template together accurately on gridline 17. Cut down grid line 28 to mark.
4 Place the Airflow Template supplied on the guard, ensuring the guard crease line are followed exactly. The top guard edge line is a guide only as it will vary slightly between pre and post 1997 cherokee’s.
5 Tape over the sites of all hole points to protect the guard. Locate holes as indicated and mark with centre punch. Drill the 8mm holes. Be careful of any wires or other obstructions under the inner guard.
6 Cut harness ties and lift out of the way on inner guard. Drill a 76mm hole, using a hole cutter through inner and outer guards. Remove tape.
7 Remove the air box. Cut and drill to suit adaptor at the rear of the box in the top right hand corner just below the bottom of the filter. Seal joint with poly urethane and attach with self tap screws. Refit the air box.
8 Seal the old front hole with part of the old snout or cut some tin to suit and seal with poly urethane. The air box will actually be more efficient this way and will use more of the filter area than before.
9 File down all exposed burrs. Paint all exposed metal surfaces. Place the Snorkel on guard with “A” pillar fitted loosely attached. Fit guard bolts with panel washers.
10 Using “A” Pillar Bracket as a template mark drill points against “A” Pillar for self tap screws. Drill holes, locate screw plugs in holes and affix self tap screws.
11 Slide on flexible hose to Snorkel outlet, apply Polyurethane to ensure seal, fasten with clamp. Bend hose through 90o affix flexible hose to adaptor inlet after cutting to length, apply Polyurethane to seal and fasten with clamp and screw.
12 Refit water bottle to inner guard. Fit Airflow Hat to Snorkel head, fasten with clamp. Polish silicon base plastic sealer to Snorkel and Hat for finish.
13 Optional. Polyurethane can be applied to seal between the guard and the Snorkel by taping around each. Apply an even bead between the tapes, removing tap after smoothing. Leave the very bottom join free of sealant to allow any moisture to drain. Note NO Polyurethane is supplied.
