The only items you need to complete this installation are a flat-head screwdriver, and a Phillips head screwdriver, and a T15 and T20 torx driver. Also an expired credit card or similar (see step 1) is required. Note that this installation is done on an E90 LCI. The installation is similar for non LCI vehicles, depending on whether you have a button strip for heated seats, PDC, etc. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS WHOLE INSTRUCTION GUIDE TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS AND TO SEE WHERE THE INSTRUCTIONS DIFFER FOR VEHICLES WITH THIS STRIP.
Procedures:
Take a credit card or similarly rigid material, and cut it as shown.
insert card between heater control and dash trim
Pull forward on card, repeat on other side, and pull heater control unit + trim outwards.
Remove two wires coming from back of heater control panel by depressing the plastic in front of the colored piece……
and slide back the colored piece until the plug may be removed completely.
At this time if you have heated seat controls, park distance control, etc. remove that button strip from the bracket.
carefully use small screwdriver to lift the tabs to release the heater control panel from trim.
Use T20 torx to remove two lower screws from bracket.
Use Phillips screwdriver to remove two upper screws from bracket (below radio) and pull radio forward.
Disconnect all wires from back of radio.
Some wires will be attached to radio by a piece of plastic wrapped in tape. Cut tape with siscors to release wires.
To release antenna wire from back of radio use small flat head screwdriver to lift up the pink clip and slide out.
remove screws and bolts as shown above and below..
