After installation, the ONSTAR LOCKPICK will allow your aftermarket Bluetooth Handsfree kit to interface directly with your vehicle’s ONSTAR system. When you are making or receiving a call, your ONSTAR will be activated and the audio can be heard through your factory sound system. The ONSTAR LOCKPICK contains a simple “T” harness for connection to your radio. This “T” harness also has connections for your Handsfree kit to supply power for it, and connect to its radio mute function. A separate harness allows connections to the line level audio output of your Handsfree kit so you will not have to use any of the extra speakers which may have come with your kit. You can listen to your conversations just as you would an ONSTAR message and the sound will play through your factory sound system.
Connections for constant 12V power (YELLOW), Ground (GRAY), and Accessory Switched 12V power (RED) are included in your wiring harness. These connections are not necessary for the operation of your LOCKPICK and are provided as a BONUS for you to use when connecting your Handsfree kit. The Accessory switched 12V source will turn off when the car is turned off while the constant source will remain on at all times. These connections are typically necessary when installing a Handfree kit and will save you a lot of time in your installation. The audio harness is labeled for positive and negative audio connections to your Handfree kit line level audio output. Connections labeled AUDIO, are compatible with all 2007 Tahoe, Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, Avalanche, Denali, Equinox, and Silverado’s. Other connections present are for HHR applications.
Installation
Start with the car and radio turned off. The GM LOCKPICK is designed with a “T” harness, equipped with factory male and female connectors for direct connections to your screen. With access to the rear of the screen, unplug the matching Black connectors and plug them into the female connectors of your LOCKPICK. Then plug the male Black connectors of the LOCKPICK harness into the earlier factory locations. The connectors are keyed and cannot be plugged in to the wrong location. Slide the blue locking tabs on the top of the connectors back before attempting to insert the plug fully into the radio. Do not plug in the LOCKPICK yet.
Next, determine the switch setting you desire for your installation. Start with all switches in the UP position. Then set switch five (S) to the down position. This setting programs your LOCKPICK to work with all of the above 2007 vehicles. If your vehicle is equipped with ONSTAR, set switch four to the down position also. Most installations will be with this configuration (1,2,3 UP – 4,5 DOWN). After positioning switch 4 and 5 to the desired setting, plug the box into the LOCKPICK harness. If you wish to change the switch setting after plugging in the controller, the car must be turned off and the box unplugged first Then change the switch setting and plug it back in.
