Installation Instructions: Tilt the seat forward. Remove the plastic wing nut from the current plastic jack cover, behind the seat. Thread the metal extension coupler (provided) onto the shaft in the current plastic jack cover.

Step 1. Remove the contents from the box and check for any damage. Verify all parts against the parts list.
Step 2. Read and understand instructions completely before beginning installation.
Step 3. To assemble the grille guard, position the center section. The bottom side of the center section is the longer end. Insert wings so that the wing slot lines up with the center section hole. Attach uprights to grille guard through top holes (more…)

1. Prepare the work area. Since this installation requires handling turbocharger and exhaust components, the vehicle should be cold. A top-side creeper will be a very valuable to ease this job. Alternatively, rolled shop towels can provide some cushion when laying over the engine while working on the turbocharger and exhaust pipes. Have a shop light handy.
2. Raise the hood fully. Locate and disconnect the negative lead from both batteries.

The terminals of this Ready-to-Run Distributor require spark plug style terminals. You may need to change the terminals and boots of your wires. MSD offers two kits, PN 8849 or PN 8848 that are supplied with nine boots and terminals.
Note: If the gear is ever replaced, MSD Gear (PN 8531) is required for replacement due to the .500″ diameter shaft.

1. Locate Rear Bumper Attachment
Locate the rear bumper attachment point on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
2. Remove Rear Bumper Fasteners
Remove the bumper fasteners. Set them aside to be reused.
3. Assemble Linkage to Mounting Bracket
Assemble the Mounting Bracket to the Linkage.
2500 & 3500 HD Vehicles: Use the M10-1.5 x 35 Socket Cap Screws. Do not use the Spacer.
Other Vehicles: Use M10-1.5 x 80 Socket
Cap Partial Thread Screws Spacer and the Spacer.
4. Install Linkage Assembly
Slide the holes in the Mounting Bracket over the studs on the vehicle. Reinstall the fasteners removed in Step 2.
5. Install Step
Use the M6-1.0 x 20 Socket Head Cap Screws to mount the Step to the Linkage Assembly.
6. Adjust Step
Adjust the Step from side to side. Make sure to leave clearance for foot access to lower step. Tighten the allen head bolts.
Operation
The TrekStep™ is foot operated and deploys and retracts with a nudge of your foot. To deploy, press down using your left foot, on the forward outside corner of the step pad. To retract, gently kick the underside of the step pad. Max Load Capacity: 300 lbs. Always use appropriate hand holds when stepping up to or down from your truck’s cargo bed.
Maintenance Tips
The step pad surface and linkage arms can be washed with mild soap and water using a soft brush or sponge to dislodge any mud, dirt or accumulated road grime. Rinse with fresh water. To prevent slipping, avoid applying waxes, lubricants
Attention!
TrekStep™ SHOULD ALWAYS BE STOWED IN THE RETRACTED POSITION WHEN DRIVING.
