The purpose of this modification is to allow the MOBI-ARC’s PWM regulator to control the alternator. Read through these pages before undertaking modification. People not mechanically inclined may choose to have a local alternator re-builder facilitate this modification.
In its original configuration, this alternator uses diodes within the rectifier plate known as “avalanche” diodes. Avalanche diodes are fine for charging, but they are incompatible for welding due to their limited voltage breakdown rating. In order to use the MM alternator, a rectifier plate with standard diodes must be installed. We’ve manufactured bolt-in rectifier plates with standard diodes. The rectifier plates look identical, but electrically they different.

1. Turn the ignition OFF and disconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the air temp. sensor electrical connection.
3. Loosen the hose clamps at the turbo inlet and the airbox outlet as shown.
4. Remove the intake tube from the vehicle as shown.
5. Loosen and remove the 10mm nut that retains the airbox to the vehicle.
6. Remove the complete airbox assembly from the vehicle as shown.
7. Remove the airbox mounting grommet as shown.
8. Install the large “L” bracket onto the heat shield with the provided hardware. NOTE: Do not tighten completely.

Preparing to Install
Installing the Kit
• Disconnect the battery to prevent accidental engagement of starter motor.
• Drain coolant from system
• If your A/C is intact and charged it must be evacuated. This is best done by a professional garage with proper recycling equipment
Photo-1: Make sure the water pump mounting surfaces are clean and free of old gasket material. Using silicon sealer and new gaskets install the Water Pump (P171) to the block using (2) 3⁄8 x 21⁄4″ SHCS (S260) in the two lower water pump holes and one 3⁄8 x 11⁄2″ SHCS (S250) in the upper center hole
