I used an BMK-13 By-Pass Oil Filter System Kit for a 5.3-liter gasoline Chevrolet V8. I have measured and my installation will also work for 4.8 / 5.3 / 6.0 Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac. I fabricated a custom steel bracket that simply bolts up to the alternator bracket. I backed out and used the main support bolt for the alternator. I also used two smaller bolts to (more…)

1. Prepare the work area. Since this installation requires handling turbocharger and exhaust components, the vehicle should be cold. A top-side creeper will be a very valuable to ease this job. Alternatively, rolled shop towels can provide some cushion when laying over the engine while working on the turbocharger and exhaust pipes. Have a shop light handy.
2. Raise the hood fully. Locate and disconnect the negative lead from both batteries.

These instructions have been designed for unaltered vehicles. Before you start, check for any variations. Each vehicle may dictate it’s own control mount and cable routing. Therefore, you will need to study the pictures and use your good judgement or seek professional help. Lift kits may govern how and where the cable is routed. Always keep the cable away from heat (exhaust) and rough or sharp edges. If you are concerned about lower cable damage or abrasion, we recommend cutting a length (about 3 feet) of 5/8” ID plastic or rubber hose (garden or heater) to be slid over the cable before assembly. Please keep in mind, the warranty is void on heat damaged or abused cables. Before drilling, check for any electrical wires, hoses, etc.

Installation Instructions:
Pull and recline front seats all the way forward. Flip rear seat bottom up and fold seat back down.
Set the DU-HA in truck, centered on the floor, with DU-HA lettering facing forward (as shown). Make sure slot in the DU-HA is aligned with center child safety seat bracket.
With the DU-HA centered on floor use the DU-HA as a template to mark and drill two 5/16” holes in the floor flaps. Flip up the front flap to make sure the DU-HA is positioned against the rear of the cab before drilling. If you do happen to drill through the duct below the floor flaps they are only pressure release vents for cab pressure so a hole will not affect them. It’s best to secure driver’s side first before drilling passengers’ side.
