This conversion is not as easy as some people make out but can still be done by the back yard mechanic with some basic skills. You will need: Type 9 gearbox from a Sierra 1600 (about 1988-92) Bellhousing to suit the Pinto 2000 engine 20mm thick spacers to go in the cross member mounts (optional) Clutch, flywheel, pedal box, clutch cable, etc.
The cross member off the automatic transmission fits the Type 9 but needs to be lowered 20 mm otherwise the g/box will hit the underside of the transmission tunnel.

The Lancer Evolution 6 Tommi Makinen also known as the TME, or Evo 6.5 is considered by many to be the best Evo ever made. Built in only limited numbers for homologation, it’s by far the most sought after of all Lancer Evolution models. It gives the best driving experience of all Evo’s produced so far, right up to the latest Evo 10 GSR SST! Improvements over the previous Evo 6 included a high response titanium and aluminium alloy bladed turbo with a smaller diameter compressor wheel to be able to withstand higher boost, a quicker steering rack, T. Makinen embossed seats with matching red stitched Momo steering wheel, gear lever gaiter and leather gear knob in combination with black faced gauges with red numbering and calibrations. White Enkei Racing Forged Alloy 17″ wheels were also fitted – as used in Group A racing. The front bumper was of a new design, specially shaped through wind tunnel testing in an effort to improve wind speeds. The lower cross member was also replaced with an alloy item for strength and light weight.

This blower motor has undergone some changes in design so the installation procedures have also changed. The original motor was a two piece motor and the wheel was secured with a set screw. GM changed the design to a one piece unit with a fiberglass heat shield and the wheel is pressed on. On some of the models you may need to remove the front cradle bolts so the engine can be rocked forward. This will help keep the valve cover from interfering with the blower motor replacement. On all models; disconnect the negative battery cable.
