MacPherson strut cartridge replacement on GM-10 series (“W”-car) vehicles. This includes 1988 and later Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass and Buick Regal, 1989 and later Chevrolet Lumina.
PROBLEM: A MacPherson strut spring compressor is not required to replace the MacPherson struts on these vehicles. The strut cartridge is removed and replaced through the body shock tower. Special tools are required.
Do not service the strut unless the vehicle is on the floor. All 4 tires must be on the floor and facing straight ahead, otherwise the coil spring can fly free.

Read and understand these instructions BEFORE attempting to install this product. See reference to diagrams on back page.
1. All Tru-Time Cam Gears for Mitsubishi have provisions for the cam angle sensor that is mounted behind the intake cam gear on the 1995 to 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The models starting with the 1997 model year have the cam angle sensor mounted at the rear of the cylinder head.
2. The procedure to change the gears is identical to the timing belt replacement procedure outlined in the factory service manual.
3. Obtain a suitable box or container to hold the hardware that will be removed from the engine during this installation. This will aid in the prevention of lost nuts and bolts.
4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting these procedures.
5. Removal of cam cover

A MacPherson strut-type suspension is used. Suspension consists of a vertically mounted strut and coil spring
assembly. Top of strut assembly is mounted to chassis frame; bottom is mounted to a ball joint, bolted to lower
control arm. The steering knuckle/spindle assembly is an integral part of strut. A stabilizer bar connects to
control arms through rubber-mounted links.

START WITH THE REAR BAR
1. Drive the vehicle onto a 4-post lift or floor ramps. THE CAR NEEDS TO BE AT NORMAL RIDE HEIGHT FOR PROPER INSTALLATION. You cannot have the suspension hanging while installing this bar!
2. Once vehicle is raised, take a moment and observe the stock rear bar and the way in which it is mounted.
3. Release rear exhaust hangers and middle hangers then let hang. (ok to use small amount of WD40 to loosen) Or, you may unbolt the hanger brackets using an extension and 13mm socket.

Disconnect the negative battery cable before removal of OEM exhaust. This will allow the computer to reset and recognize the new exhaust. Lay out the exhaust on the floor so it looks like the drawing and compare parts with manual.
1. Remove the stock exhaust by removing it from the 2-bolt flange located in front of the muffler. Disengage the welded hangers using WD-40 from the OEM rubber grommets. Do not damage stock nuts and bolts or remove the rubber grommets as you will re-use them to mount your new system. Now, cut off tailpipe and remove exhaust.
