1. Temporarily remove the grille and permanently remove the airdam. 2. Disconnect the fog lamp wiring if applicable and then remove the plastic bumper cover from the bumper. 3. Remove the bolts that attach the bumper from the end of the frame rails. 4. Install the hanger plates (Ref 7 & 8). Note: On the drivers side make sure not to pinch the power steering hoses and airbag sensor wire. The top plate on the rear of the hanger plate must install above the hoses. Loosely install the u-bolt (Ref 6) with washers (Ref 11) and nuts (Ref 13) thru the top rear plate and use the bumper bolt temporarily to hold the front of the hanger plate in position. A MacPherson strut-type suspension is used. Suspension consists of a vertically mounted strut and coil spring
assembly. Top of strut assembly is mounted to chassis frame; bottom is mounted to a ball joint, bolted to lower
control arm. The steering knuckle/spindle assembly is an integral part of strut. A stabilizer bar connects to
control arms through rubber-mounted links.

Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove P/S reservoir from radiator shroud. Remove upper fan shroud. Remove serpentine belt.
2. Remove generator with brackets and lay aside. Using Hub Puller (J-24420-B), remove crankshaft pulley hub. Remove oil pan. See OIL PAN. Remove front timing case cover bolts, and cover.
3. Using large screwdriver, remove crankshaft front seal. DO NOT distort timing gear cover during seal removal.
CAUTION: To prevent oil leakage, coat crankshaft pulley hub keyway with RTV sealant before installation.

COWL TOP VENT PANEL
1. Remove windshield wiper pivot arms. Remove cowl top vent panel retaining screws. Release cowl top
vent panel retaining clips. Remove windshield wiper fluid hose. Remove cowl top vent panel.
2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE

Obtain radio code before disconnecting battery. For help in identifying components and component locations:
Removal (Lower Pan- A4 & A6)
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove engine noise insulator (undercover). See Fig. 12 . Drain engine oil.
3. Unbolt left and right swaybar stabilizer bracket bolts (4) from mounting bracket. See Fig. 98 . Lower swaybar stabilizer not more than 10cm (3.94 INCHES) and secure with heavy wire.
4. If vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, unbolt oil cooler pipe (line) bracket from right side oil pan.

Installation Procedure:
1. Remove the PLASTIC BUMPER FASCIA mounted to the bottom of the front bumper. For the Avalanche, remove the entire plastic bumper. Disconnect the fog lamp electrical harnesses prior to removing the bumper. Note: The airfoil/bumper will need to be permanently removed or notched to accommodate the undercarriage assembly.
2. Remove and discard the three bolts that secure each tow hook to the truck frame. The tow hooks should remain in the same position.
3. Align the undercarriage mount pockets (at each end of the PUSH BEAM WELDMENT) with the tow hook mounting brackets on the vehicle. Note: Use a floor jack to help facilitate the installation procedure.

This kit will allow you to adapt a Chrysler 392 Hemi engine to all GM transmissions utilizing the Chevrolet bolt pattern. The use of this adapter kit will require a stock length torque converter. (A GM torque converter must be used with this adapter kit. It will not work with a Chrysler torque converter). Your Chrysler starter will bolt into place without any modifications. Reuse your OEM starter bolts.
