This document explains the engine various modifications, with a common path through them. However, these various modifications can be done in many different orders, and this is merely a guide.
Engine breathing
The s14 200sx seems to have been designed and marketed not as an out-and-out sports car, but as a sporty car with suitability for the company-car market. With this in mind, the air intake and the exhaust are quite restrictive, making the car more refined. Removing these restrictions will unleash a good few horsepower just by allowing the engine to do its job unfettered, and as such, may even increase the fuel (more…)

SIERRA 2.3 DOHC 8v HYBRID

The ‘I4′ DOHC engine first introduced in the Ford Sierra and Granada models of late 1989 was only available in the Sierra in 2.0-litre 8-valve form. While power output improvements can be made to the stock 2.0 8v engine, as documented in a separate article entitled ‘DOHC tuning’ and available from http://www.crustworld.co.uk/sierra/dohctuning.pdf, the engine output is ultimately limited by the availability and cost-effectiveness of off-the-shelf tuning parts.
