1. Temporarily remove the grille and permanently remove the airdam. 2. Disconnect the fog lamp wiring if applicable and then remove the plastic bumper cover from the bumper. 3. Remove the bolts that attach the bumper from the end of the frame rails. 4. Install the hanger plates (Ref 7 & 8). Note: On the drivers side make sure not to pinch the power steering hoses and airbag sensor wire. The top plate on the rear of the hanger plate must install above the hoses. Loosely install the u-bolt (Ref 6) with washers (Ref 11) and nuts (Ref 13) thru the top rear plate and use the bumper bolt temporarily to hold the front of the hanger plate in position. Finger tighten the fasteners until all undercarriage parts are in place. 5. Preparing the Crankshaft and Convertor for Installation
• Always check the crankshaft pilot for burrs and out-of-round.
• Remove any rust with emery paper and lightly grease pocket receiving torque convertor pilot hub.
• Remove paint from the torque convertor’s crank pilot hub with emery paper.
• Before installation, pre-fit the torque convertor to the flex plate and into the back of the crankshaft. It should be a snug, even fit (not loose or binding).
• Slowly pour two quarts of automatic transmission fluid into the convertor.
• Check the flex plate for cracks or worn teeth.
• Replace the transmission front seal.
• Install the torque convertor on the front of the transmission.
• When installing the torque convertor into the transmission, you will feel it seat 3 times for the input shaft, shaft to stator, and oil pump notches.

Instructions:
1. Remove the stock GM 245mm impeller hub by boring a 3.380″/3.385″ diameter hole on center in the stock GM 245mm impeller (see Figure 1).
2. Install the Sonnax CH-90CM-27 impeller hub from the outside. Weld around the OD of the impeller hub, making sure it is centered in the impeller. This weld must be leak-proof (see Figure 2).
3. Once the impeller hub is fitted, fixture the impeller assembly in the lathe. Turn the lip of the impeller so that it is 3.80″ from the end of the impeller hub. Then turn the OD down to 10.150″/10.145″ diameter, .40″ from the end (see Figure 3).
4. Install the adapter ring on the impeller assembly as shown in Figure 4 and weld around the OD of the impeller. This weld must be leak-proof.
