2004 BODY & ACCESSORIES Body System – Exterior – Freestar Remove:
1. Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, Refer to FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .
2. Position the watershield aside.
3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removing the stock air inlet system a) Before removing any of the O.E. components, label each individual part so that no components become mixed up during the installation process. There are three Vacuum Switching Valves (VSV), and one air flow meter that have electrical and/or vacuum connections going to them. Be sure to label these connections before disconnecting them. b) Remove the three bolts and one nut that c) Remove the bolt in the radiator support that hold the plastic engine cover on. Remove the holds the battery bracket. Unhook the rod at cover. the rear of the battery bracket. Removal All Vehicles
1. Remove the rear door interior trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
2. Remove the access hole watershield.
3. Reconnect the window regulator and window switch electrical connectors and position the front door window to access the glass clamp bolt.
4. Disconnect the window regulator and window switch electrical connectors
5. Loosen the window glass clamp bolt.

This Service Bulletin contains Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Monitor threshold values for all models from 1996 to 2003 and some 2004 models. Starting in 2004, the O2S Monitor threshold values can be found in the repair manual. These values are used when analyzing the O2S test results to determine the O2S condition.
