Installation Procedure A. Check Kit Contents 1. Check kit for contents and damage.
B. Vehicle Preparation 1. Open vehicle hood. 2. Use blankets to protect the front grille area and the front seat area. 3. Set parking brake. 4. Put transmission in Neutral. 5. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery at the terminal.
C. Removal Procedure: OE Air Filter Enclosure 1. Remove air cleaner lid. i. Unfasten the 3 hook clamps. (Fig. C1) ii. Loosen the hose clamp that secures the intake hose to the air cleaner lid. (Fig. C1) 10 mm Socket iii. Unplug the Mass Air Flow Sensor connector. (Fig. C2) iv. Remove wire harness from the air cleaner lid. v. Remove OE air filter lid from engine bay. vi. Remove OE air filter.

Removing the stock air inlet system a) Before removing any of the O.E. components, label each individual part so that no components become mixed up during the installation process. There are three Vacuum Switching Valves (VSV), and one air flow meter that have electrical and/or vacuum connections going to them. Be sure to label these connections before disconnecting them. b) Remove the three bolts and one nut that c) Remove the bolt in the radiator support that hold the plastic engine cover on. Toyota RAV4 features a more robust engine, exterior and interior updates, and more standard equipment. The previous 148-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder has been supplanted by a 2.4-liter that makes 161 hp. The suspension and steering have been retuned accordingly. The front and rear ends both have a new look, and inside, cosmetic changes include a redesigned steering wheel, instrument panel, and center dash. Anti-lock brakes with brake assist are now standard, as are air conditioning, cruise control, steering-wheel audio controls, and power windows, door locks, and mirrors. The RAV4’s interior has more room than most mid-size station wagons: 68.3 cubic feet in the rear. The original cute-ute is available with front-wheel drive or a full-time four-wheel-drive system that operates transparently. The RAV4 is nimble, practical, good looking, and well made.
