This bulletin supersedes TSB 06-40-005 to include a procedure for GDS. CAUTION: Before replacing a transaxle to improve a shift quality condition, follow this procedure to reset and relearn the adaptive learning.
DESCRIPTION: The PCM or TCM contains logic to adjust solenoid duty and line pressure as needed to compensate for normal clutch wear over the life of the transaxle. This bulletin provides the procedures necessary to reset (erase) and “relearn” the PCM/TCM adaptive values. After the following repairs have been completed, the PCM/TCM adaptive values must be reset in order to provide optimum shift quality:

Common Problems
1. I am having trouble connecting with an ‘02 Audi A4.
This vehicle does pose connection issues with most aftermarket tools. Please continue to retry the connection.
2. I am having trouble getting good data rates on a specific controller.
Audi/VW consolidated sensors into groups. Some sensor groups can update at slower rates then others. Typically, this is text-based sensors on non-critical models like Telephone or Climate control. To resolve this select only those sensors that are important to you until you reach a saturation point for the data throughput.

The lamp illustrated is an oil level low warning indicator and not a service interval indicator. When the engine oil is at the correct level, this lamp will automatically extinguish.
