Section 1: Repair instructions for E36 1. Connect DIS/MoDiC 3 tester to a vehicle and read out SRS module fault code memory. If the above mentioned SRS faults are set in the airbag control module, proceed with the repair. 2. Remove corresponding front seat. For a removal instructions refer to RA 52 10 000 , or RA 52 10 001 (sports seat) which can be found in the Technical Information System (TIS). 3. Disconnect vehicle’s battery. 4. Remove cable securing wire ties (1), unplug the belt tensioner connector (2) from the belt buckle assembly and from the Read the rest of this entry »

A revised timing belt tensioner for 2002-2003 Acura 3.2L engines is part of a product improvement by Acura. The original design timing belt tensioner is filled with oil to dampen oscillation. Due to a manufacturing situation, the tensioner oil can leak. If enough oil is lost, the timing belt loosens and causes engine noise. The worst-case scenario is the belt may lose Read the rest of this entry »

A thermistor built into the engine coolant temperature sensor changes the resistance value according to the engine coolant temperature. The structure of the sensor and connection to the ECM is the same as in the intake air temp. circuit malfunction shown on page DI-26 . If the ECM detects the DTC P0115, it operates the fail-safe function in which the engine coolant temp. is assumed to be 80°C (176°F).
HINT: After confirming DTC P0115 use the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester to confirm the engine coolant temperature from ”CURRENT DATA”.

By a built-in sensor unit, the manifold absolute pressure sensor detects the intake manifold pressure as a voltage. The ECM then determines the basic injection duration and basic injection advance angle based on this voltage. Since the manifold absolute pressure sensor does not use the atmospheric pressure as a criterion, but senses the absolute pressure inside the intake manifold (the pressure in proportion to the present absolute vacuum 0), it is not influenced by fluctuations in the atmospheric pressure due to high altitude and other factors. This permits it to control the air-fuel ratio at the proper lever under all conditions.

Incorrect or out of phase engine timing can result in damage to the valves. The Tool Connection cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by using these tools in anyway.
Instruction for 1.3 Litre chain driven engine
• Remove the blanking plugs from the camshaft housing and install the alignment tools A with the parallel flats engaging into the camshaft grooves horizontally. Tighten the large Handle to secure in position.
• Install the crankshaft Locking Pin C in the bell housing hole.
• Install the tensioner Locking Pin B before carrying out engine repairs.

The steps of timing belt installation for this 1993 Mercury Villager LS.
Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove covers from below engine. Drain cooling system. Remove right front wheel and engine side cover. Remove accessory drive belts. Remove crankshaft pulley bolt and pulley. 2. Remove upper radiator hose and water inlet hose. Remove A/C compressor idler pulley and bracket. Remove water pump pulley. Remove upper and lower timing belt front covers. See Fig. 1 . 3. Temporarily install crankshaft pulley bolt so crankshaft can be rotated. Set cylinder No. 1 at TDC of compression stroke by rotating crankshaft until marks on camshaft sprockets align with marks on timing belt upper rear cover, and mark on crankshaft sprocket aligns with mark on front cover housing. See Fig. 2 . 4. Loosen timing belt tensioner nut. Release tension on belt. Remove timing belt. Check timing belt tensioner, spring and timing belt.

This application is an interference engine. Do not rotate camshaft or crankshaft when timing belt is removed, or engine damage may occur.
Removal (Eclipse & Galant)
1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove engine splash shield from right side wheelwell.
2. Lower vehicle. Support weight of engine with floor jack. If necessary, remove coolant reservoir. Remove upper engine mount located near timing belt cover. Remove all drive belts. If necessary, remove drive belt tensioner pulley bracket and power steering pump pulley. See Fig. 1 . Remove water pump pulley.
3. Remove crankshaft pulley. Noting bolt lengths and locations, remove upper and lower timing belt cover with gasket.
