You have just purchased the finest Hardtop available on the market today. By following these simple instructions you will have many years of enjoyment and the Hardtop will last as long as your car. The following tips will be helpful if you are qualified to do it yourself. If not, we recommend that your Hardtop be installed and finished by a professional body shop.
A point to remember, automobiles are mass-produced and built with certain tolerance. Sometimes these tolerances are quite large. No two are alike. A body man is a skilled tradesman; a skill that is not learned overnight. A “well fitting” automobile is a series of adjustments and compromises. DO NOT paint until after initial installation. After this initial installation procedure on/off will be as easy as convertible up/down.

The New ELV-Directive
The European End-of-Life-Vehicles (ELV) Directive 2000/53EC that has been entered into force on October 21st, 2000, imposes specific rules for materials used in cars.
• art.4: prohibits the use of Pb, Cd, CrVI, Hg (with exception of the cases listed in Annex II) in vehicles put on the market after July 1st 2003.
• art.8: know the location of all hazardous substances (according to EU Directive 67/548) in vehicles when they are dismantled, available from October 2002 for each type of new vehicle put on the market.

Since its first introduction in 1971 the FIAT 127 has undergone a continuing programme of improvements concerned mainly with styling and trim alterations. However, in 1977 a new model range was introduced which included the option of a larger engine of 1049 cc capacity with a single overhead camshaft. In appearance, cars in the new range are broadly similar to the earlier models but they have a lower bonnet line, larger glass area and redesigned bumpers.

General Guide – Setting & Locking FIAT TWIN CAM engines. Timing belt replacement on 1.6, 1.8 16v. and 2.0 20v. Fiat twin camshaft engines is carried out with the crankshaft at TDC, established by using VS1404 TDC Position Tool and a DTI (Fig.1), to determine the piston position in No.1 cylinder, and then by checking that all timing marks align. NOTE: To avoid kit contents duplication, VS1404 TDC Position Tool is not included in individual kits but is available as an Associated Tool. It is used on Fiat 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 multi-valve engines.

Bumper removal and cutting is required for the Fiat Croma (see separate sheet), but not for the Vauxhall Vectra.
1. Lift the floor covering in the boot and remove the rear panel trim and the two side panels. Locate the dimples provided in the floor and rear panel. (Removal of mastic compound may be required to reveal the dimples and to ensure correct seating of Spreader Plates (E)). At dimples in floor drill holes of just sufficient size to insert Bushes (F) into the frame (top surface only).
Insert Bushes (F), position Spreader Plates (E) and Sidearms (D) as shown below – use Bolts (H) inserted from above to keep bushes etc in position.

Tests/Procedures: 1. Question the customer. Check if he/she started the car, cranked the heater fan on full and went back inside as the car warmed up on a sub-zero morning. Engine temperature rise did not occur at the rate the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) expected. 2. Coolant concentrations of greater than 50/50 can cause this code. Tech Tips: This code will set if the heater system is pulling too much heat from the engine as it is warming up.
