The net amount of ride height increase depends upon the age and use of the vehicle, wheel offset, and numerous other factors. Stated torsion bar ride height increases are based upon factory specifications. If the torsion bars were “cranked up” at some point in the past, expect a corresponding reduction in overall height increase with the new torsion keys. Note that torsion bars, like any other spring, are subject to fatigue and sagging over time. Also, torsion bars have different ratings depending on how the vehicle was equipped from the factory. In some cases, installing heavier rated bars (which can be purchased from a dealer) may be the only solution to regaining ride height lost from adding heavy aftermarket accessories, such as a winch bumper or snow plow.

As a general rule, the taller a vehicle is, the easier it will roll. Offset, as much as possible, what is lost in rollover resistance by increasing tire track width. In other words, go “wide” as you go “tall”. Many sportsmen remove their mud tires after hunting season and install ones more appropriate for street driving; always use as wide a tire and wheel combination as possible to enhance vehicle stability. Braking performance and capability are decreased when significantly larger/heavier tires and wheels are used. Take this into consideration while driving.

Installation by a trained mechanic is recommended
Step 1:Position vehicle on a flat surface and lift vehicle by the frame so that the front wheels are off the ground. Use a floor jack and jack stands or a (2) two post lift if available. Next, locate the torsion key at the rear of the torsion bar under the cab of the vehicle. (Insert A)
Note: Prior to lifting the vehicle it is recommended that you measure the stock height of the vehicle so that you have a base line to gauge the height of the vehicle. Measure the vehicle from the bottom of the wheel to the lip of the fender. (Insert B)

Installation Procedures:
1. Before you remove anything off the truck, measure the pinion angle on the bottom of the differential. Make sure to record the measurement here _____. Once the kit is installed, it is required to put the axle back to this measurement. This will keep the correct caster and camber.
2. Remove the transmission skid plate and then remove the front driveshaft. Take it to a drive line shop and have it extended 1 1/8”. Disconnect the sway bar end links and remove the sway bar. Place a jack under the differential and lift the truck until the wheels are 4-5” off the ground. Place a jack stand on each side of the frame, right under the radiator support. Remove the tires, shocks and steering arm, pan-hard bar / trac bar, sway bar and pitman arm. Let the jack down and remove the coil springs (they should have little tension left on them). NOTE: Set the lower shock bolt and nut aside as they will used in step 10.
