If the complete throttle valve control module is current-less (e.g. connector disconnected) the throttle valve moves into a particular, specified mechanical position, which signals an increased idle speed with an engine at operating temperature. If only the Throttle Position (TP) actuator -V60- is current-less, the throttle valve also moves into the specified mechanical position (emergency running gap), however, since Closed Throttle Position (CTP) switch -F60- can still be recognized, an “almost normal” is reached via the respective ignition angle retardation. If the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a malfunction at Throttle Position (TP) sensor -G69-, Throttle Position (TP) actuator -V60- is switched current-less by the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the throttle valve moves into the specified mechanical position (emergency running gap) again.

In the fall of 2008, Quality Control Systems Corp. analyzed data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Early Warning Reporting system through the first quarter of 2008. Our analysis showed that injuries allegedly related to vehicle speed control failures in the 2007 Lexus ES 350 had risen to first place in our rankings of unusual patterns of claims. In fourth place on the list was the twin vehicle to the Lexus ES 350, the 2007 Toyota Camry. The Camry claims were also related to vehicle speed control. Our analysis was published on October 24, 2008 by the Vehicle Safety Information Resource Center on its web.

This kit provides the SOLUTION for eliminating cruise control on throttle bodies found in the 02-06 RSX-S and 02-05 Civic Si while:
-Enabling usage of a short OEM throttle cable (Acura 17910-ST7-L01) for swap cleanliness
-Eliminating throttle cable/bracket interferences (with fuel lines, hoods, hoses, etc.)
-Essentially converting a K20A2/A3/Z1 throttle body into a K20A (Type R) throttle body
-Comprised of high quality billet 6061-T6 machined aluminum.

REMOVAL OF OLD THROTTLE BODY
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. The air inlet tube connecting the air cleaner to the throttle body must be removed. Loosen both of the clamps on the air inlet tube and carefully remove it from the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the throttle position sensor and the idle speed control solenoid connectors from the throttle body. Also disconnect the EGR position sensor connector from the EGR valve.
4. Disconnect the EGR vacuum line from the EGR valve. Disconnect the throttle linkage. Loosen the two hose clamps on the throttle body coolant hoses on the EGR spacer. Remove the hoses being aware that some coolant may drain from the hoses.
5. Remove the four nuts that hold the throttle body to the manifold. Slide the stock throttle body and EGR spacer off of the four studs.

These instructions are based on my experience with removing and cleaning the throttle body and from information obtained from the 2000 Durango Factory Service Manual. They were originally my notes for use when I have to do it again. They are as complete and detailed as I can make them, however they are provided for informational purposes only and you should follow or use them at your own risk! Other year models may be different; other engines ARE different. If something on yours seems different, it may well be! Use your head and be careful.
