Toyota has replaced its commercial-based Spacia MPV with a brand new purpose-designed seven seater wagon called the Avensis Verso. The Avensis not only gives Toyota a much more modern and more efficient entry into the people mover (or family wagon) class, it also provides a cheaper alternative to the larger eight seater Tarago. Prices for the three model, two equipment grades Avensis line-up start at $39,900 for the GLX manual, with the automatic GLX costing $41,900. The auto-only Ultima model (tested) is priced at $46,990.

Once the Multimedia Interface Novosonic-Intercar Ventura Technology has been installed, please follow these instructions to activate the different external video sources connected to the original touch screen monitor.
In this installation example we have installed a CD Changer, a DVD Player, a Rear View Camera and an Apple iPod.
1.- Press the DISC button to activate the CD Changer which has been previously installed. When pressing the AUDIO button, the screen will display the Audio menu. The touch buttons perform their regular functions, that is, controlling the CD Changer functions.
- Press the CD button to activate the Interface.
- Press the SEEK UP button (▲) to activate VIDEO 1 (the DVD player); the screen will display the picture of the disc loaded in the DVD player.

Installing monitor/mirror
1. mount rearsight mirror on existing windshield lug and tighten screw. connect male rca video connector of camera extension harness to video 1 input (yellow cable) of mirror harness. connect male dc power connector of camera extension harness to power 1 output (black cable) of rearsight mirror harness. wrap all rca and dc connectors with the foam tape provided. figure 4
2. route the camera extension harness and power harness behind head- liner toward driver side and to rear of vehicle.

If you do not feel comfortable with installing the system yourself don’t hesitate having a professional installing the system. Toyota RAV4 features a more robust engine, exterior and interior updates, and more standard equipment. The previous 148-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder has been supplanted by a 2.4-liter that makes 161 hp. The suspension and steering have been retuned accordingly. The front and rear ends both have a new look, and inside, cosmetic changes include a redesigned steering wheel, instrument panel, and center dash. Anti-lock brakes with brake assist are now standard, as are air conditioning, cruise control, steering-wheel audio controls, and power windows, door locks, and mirrors. The RAV4’s interior has more room than most mid-size station wagons: 68.3 cubic feet in the rear. The original cute-ute is available with front-wheel drive or a full-time four-wheel-drive system that operates transparently. The RAV4 is nimble, practical, good looking, and well made.

In late 1995, six months after Toyota decided to move forward with its revolutionary hybrid, the Prius, and two years before the car was supposed to go into production in Japan, the engineers working on the project had a problem. A big problem. The first prototypes wouldn’t start. “On the computer the hybrid power system worked very well,” says Satoshi Ogiso, the team’s chief power train engineer. “But simulation is different from seeing if the actual part can work.” It took Ogiso and his team more than a month to fix the software and electrical problems that kept the Prius stationary. Then, when they finally got it started, the car motored only a few hundred yards down the test track before coming to a stop.

In the fall of 2008, Quality Control Systems Corp. analyzed data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Early Warning Reporting system through the first quarter of 2008. Our analysis showed that injuries allegedly related to vehicle speed control failures in the 2007 Lexus ES 350 had risen to first place in our rankings of unusual patterns of claims. In fourth place on the list was the twin vehicle to the Lexus ES 350, the 2007 Toyota Camry. The Camry claims were also related to vehicle speed control. Our analysis was published on October 24, 2008 by the Vehicle Safety Information Resource Center on its web.
